Based in the Lake Geneva region, we have over 15 years' experience in Switzerland and abroad, particularly within international organisations and in the private sector.

We are qualified linguists, specialising in law, healthcare and business, amongst other fields. We provide services that are thorough, confidential and compliant with the highest standards.

Conference interpreter and translator

I am a Franco-American conference interpreter and translator based in Geneva and have been working for over fifteen years in Switzerland and abroad, both for international organisations and in the private sector. As a member of the AIIC and a Category 1 interpreter under the UN classification system (French A, English B), I co-founded Wordflow Interpretation and Translation Services Sàrl after spending seven years as a staff interpreter and translator at the Special Tribunal for Lebanon in The Hague.

Thanks to my dual cultural background, I am particularly attuned to nuances and context, which enables me to convey a message that is as faithful to the original as possible.

I hold a Master's degree in Arts (linguistics and English and American literature, French and art history) from the University of Lausanne and received professional training in translation and conference interpreting at the University of London Institute and subsequently at ISIT in Paris. This academic background, enhanced by many years of experience in international and legal settings, has enabled me to develop an approach to language that is rigorous, nuanced and globally minded.

Throughout my career, I have specialised in legal and institutional interpreting, whilst maintaining a keen interest in the cultural and arts sector.

I practise the four main methods of interpretation:

  • Simultaneous interpreting, provided in real time at conferences and meetings;
  • Consecutive interpreting, where the interpreter speaks after the speaker;
  • Whispering, for more intimate and confidential situations;
  • And remote interpreting, for virtual meetings.

Michael McCain

Translator, proofreader, interpreter, post-editor

Sworn interpreter and translator for the courts, the public prosecutor's office and the police in Geneva and the canton of Vaud (Switzerland).

For eight years, I held the post of P3-level translator at the Special Tribunal for Lebanon in The Hague. In this capacity, I have translated and edited legal documents from Arabic and French into English, and have undertaken short-term assignments at the International Criminal Court (ICC) and the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW). My current main clients include the United Nations, the ICC, the Council of Europe, the Swiss Centre of Expertise in Prisons and Probation, the Judiciary and the Canton of Vaud.

Available for on-site assignments. Advanced proficiency in CAT tools and information technology.

When translating, my language combinations are French, Spanish, Arabic, German, Dutch and Catalan into English.
